The author, that’s me, is a person who was born at a time, and a place, and has in fact written a book. Okay fine, you already know my name is Ihsan. I’m 14 and in Year 9, and live in Australia (yes it's true, we ride emus to school, fight off 10 spiders a day, and I have a boxing match with a kangaroo every day after school).

Year of the Novella is one of Story Factory’s most intensive programs. Throughout 2024, a committed group of young writers came to workshops every Wednesday afternoon at our Parramatta centre. They shared their stories and supported each other to write. This novella was written as part of that project.
